Whether you are looking to complete a service project for school or want to get involved in your local community, there are various locations to do so! New Jersey has plenty of nonprofits and organizations where you can help make a difference. The following are just a few of the programs located throughout the Garden State.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties

Big Brothers Big Sisters looks to provide mentorship to children and teens between the ages of 6 – 18 while also helping foster positive and helpful relationships. Volunteers spend a few hours mentoring their students each month, offering friendship and guidance that might be missing from their home life. Local programs also offer specific opportunities and events for the enrolled students!

Pass It Along

This Northern New Jersey nonprofit organization is committed to helping teens become confident, resilient, and compassionate through self-discovery, leadership, and volunteerism. Pass It Along targets teens looking to prove service-learning as a part of their volunteer experience. Teens can volunteer their time to local programs at Compadres, Cooking with a Mission, Tilly’s Kids, and many more! Pass It Along is a great way for teens to build a sense of self while learning about the positive effects volunteering has on their community.

Community Foodbank of NJ

The Community Foodbank of NJ looks to fight poverty and hunger by assisting those in need looking for long-term solutions. Volunteers sort and pack donated food and clothing items for those in need. The food bank also has a Pediatric Mobile Pantry program that unloads groceries and brings food to families who need extra support.

Burlington County Parks System

With headquarters in Mount Holly, Burlington County Parks System looks to protect and preserve its historical, natural, and cultural resources. The parks system offers residents the opportunity to contribute to the community while sharing their skills and learning new ones. Volunteer opportunities include preparing crafts for storytime, bird surveys for winter bird counts, art gallery assistance, and special events helper at the Historic Smithville Mansion.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact any of the programs directly to get involved!
